Workshop Energy

June 10, 2024

I had the best weekend co-teaching with Lisa Baker at our workshop. There is nothing better than being surrounded by Artists! Observing others create and interact with one another is the best way to energize your own creativity. I walked away from the day feeling light, happy, and refreshed to continue my creative journey of painting.

It’s been a long journey having had Hip Replacement exactly 4 months post-op on the day of the Workshop. Four months! I felt joy in knowing I could stand and walk without excruciating pain and I think it came through in my work. That alone filled my bucket! Each and every Artist that attended amazed me with their drive to push their own creativity forward. Together we fed off of one another’s energy, sharing, laughing and exchanging ideas. It was a memory making day.

The Workshop was titled Elevated Abstracts: Working in a series. Our main goal of the workshop is to share how creating small, multiple paintings can open up your creative flow and encourage you to focus on the your own unique artistic voice. Observing the cohesiveness of mark making, use of color and your brushstrokes can light you up with a deeper understanding of your own unique style. Working on mixed media paper and using Acrylic paint keeps materials simple and not to precious allowing you more freedom to really get in there and make art. And that’s exactly what happened. We created so much work it filled the Studio floor!

Lisa and I will be teaching again September 14, 2024 in Kansas City, Missouri. Enrollment is here on my website!
